Dhulikhel: Chairperson of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has expressed serious concern over attacks on industries and private property during recent protests. Speaking at the 59th anniversary celebration of the FNCCI Kavre Chapter in Banepa on Sunday, Dhakal said it was “wrong and unacceptable” that industries and individual assets were looted, vandalized, and set on fire.
“The private sector provides employment to youth and contributes significantly to government revenue,” Dhakal said, urging the government to ensure the security of industries through effective policies.
Call for Action Against Violence
Dhakal demanded strict action against those who infiltrated the Gen Z protest and resorted to violence. He emphasized that the original movement by young people was peaceful and had no intention of causing harm.
Promoting Domestic Investment
Highlighting FNCCI’s new initiative, Dhakal said the Nepal Development Company, launched with an investment of Rs 10 billion, is a milestone in promoting domestic capital mobilization for large projects. “This venture sends a positive message that even mega projects can be realized with Nepali investment,” he stated.
He added that the project would inspire new investors and help expand the industrial sector, especially at a time when negative sentiments toward investment are spreading in the country.
Local Concerns in Kavre
On the occasion, Mayor of Panchkhal Municipality, Mahesh Kharel, expressed concern about the hardships faced by industrialists due to the recent unrest.
Similarly, FNCCI Kavre Chairperson Pratap Vaidya pointed out that entrepreneurs in commercial towns like Banepa, Panauti, and Dhulikhel were facing difficulties during the ongoing expansion of the Araniko Highway. He urged the authorities to designate proper business zones and allocate adequate budget for the Mandan Deupur Industrial Villageand the Special Economic Zone in Panchkhal, which are still under construction.
The anniversary event concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen the private sector and promote a secure and supportive environment for Nepal’s industries.
